THE REPLACEMENTS IN CONCERT:
Alternative rock legends The Replacements have always brought unfiltered passion and untamed kinetic energy to the stage, tearing through their songs with undeniable vigor. Singer Paul Westerberg’s throaty vocals and coming-of-age tales about social outcasts always rouse audiences, encouraging longtime fans to sing along to their favorites. His bandmates anticipate every unpredictable move Westerberg makes and perfectly complement his vocals with their impressive musicianship. The band finds plenty of time to joke with each other on stage and spontaneously rock out on various cover songs. The end result is a humorous, touching, and always entertaining live show that continually surprises ticket buyers with unexpected turns and twists.
Formed in 1979 as a garage band, The Replacements found support in the early ‘80s Minneapolis hardcore and punk scene with their 1981 debut album Sorry Ma, Forgot to Take Out the Trash. The band’s breakthrough album Let It Be arrived in 1984, spawning songs like “Androgynous” and “I Will Dare” that married the passionate earnestness of punk rock with more adventurous instrumentation. The success brought the band national attention and led to the major label release Tim a year later, which was also heralded by critics for its variety and originality. After breaking up for over a decade, members of the band reunited in 2012 with the EP Songs for Slim and have been touring together ever since.
