  • Quaint But Lacking

This exhibition was quaint for what it offered, but highly lacking in engagement. You can tell there was not as much involved in this exhibition by the use of space and how far things are spread apart. The costumes were nice to look at, but so little in information about how they came up with the ideas, why this instead of that, more information about ACTUAL Doctors and Companions. The small, interactive parts aren't enough to keep a child engaged and it felt more like a thrown together exhibition from someone's individual collection rather than an homage to the fantastic artistry and social commentary that is Doctor Who.

  • Great experience if you’re a massive fan

Overall, the Doctor Who experience at Takina was really good. Costumes and props of the show were amazing to look at, however I felt the exhibition was lacking in places. There was a big focus on the science behind doctor who which I felt was aimed at children. A lot of emphasis on animals that inspired some of the aliens the doctor encountered eg. The Ood was inspired by a squid. Some of the science felt as though it was a bit of a reach. I would have liked to have seen more about story lines from the show and about the characters as that’s what has kept all the fans watching. The exhibition felt quite sparse in places and only took about 45 minutes to get through. What I thought was going to be the highlight, was the merchandise shop at the end. However, the shop was filled with weird models that had a child-like, cheap, cartoonish feel to them, all in the same style. The tee shirts and tote bags also featured a very basic print for an expensive price. Lots of people browsing, but no one buying. My group didn’t purchase anything. It was cool to be up close and personal with some great characters, but I wouldn’t pay to go a second time.

Great variety of characters and history of Dr Who's. Enjoyed the scientific facts of our world.

  • Ok but not fantastic

Seemed a bit limited. We were through the exhibition in about 45 minutes. The merchandise shop was particularly disappointing.
