About Caroline Smith

As a multi-faceted performer whose catalog has delved into folk, indie rock, and R&B, Caroline Smith is a wonderfully talented wild card. The Minnesota singer-songwriter found her niche on 2013's Half About Being A Woman LP, a collection of confident tracks that blends '90s R&B swagger with energetic neo-soul. Smith specializes in uplifting jams about love, independence, and female empowerment, bringing her witty lyrics to life with soaring vocals and catchy melodies. Standout singles like the bouncy and playful "Magazine" are even more dazzling in concert, where Smith and her pair of steamy backup dancers fill the room with their powerhouse vocals. Ticket buyers looking for a good time are treated to inspiring live experiences packed with groove-worthy jams and overflowing with positive vibes.

Minnesota native Caroline Smith started writing music and playing guitar when she was 15. During her college years at the University of Minnesota she booked a weekly gig at Minneapolis' iconic 400 Bar, where she opened for everyone from hometown favorite Mason Jennings to blues legend B.B. King. In 2007 she teamed up with drummer Arlen Peiffer and bassist Jesse Schuster, and the trio began playing under the name Caroline Smith and the Good Night Sleeps. They released their folk-heavy debut album Backyard Tent Set in 2008, followed by the indie rock-inspired Little Wind in 2011. Smith's third album, 2013's Half About Being A Woman, finds the songstress trading in her sweet-singing folk roots for a sultry collection of R&B jams inspired by artists like D'Angelo and Erykah Badu. With her bold transformation fully realized, Smith is more confident and captivating in concert than ever before, delivering utterly unforgettable live performances.
