About

The Auckland Tuatara are coming back to North Harbour Stadium for the first time since winning the Northeast Division in 2019-20 and are ready to take on the Aussies in the Australian Baseball League. Voted the best stadium in the league in 2020, the team needs your support to pack out the stands this summer, and to be a part of the great atmosphere Tuatara games are known for.  Grab your hot dogs, keep an eye out for the giveaways and bring your best singing voice for Sweet Caroline – Tuatara games are more than just baseball!

But for those more interested in the baseball, we’ll have some of the best players from all around the globe including Japan, Taiwan, Australia, and the US.  Speaking of the US, did we mention we have a stack of players with MLB experience?  Manager Steve Mintz is back to lead this side and we can’t wait to see you at Auckland’s favourite ballpark.

The Tuatara will schedule their home weekends with a Friday night series opener, starting at 7.00pm before a double header Saturday that will see back-to-back games at 3.00pm and 7.00pm respectively. A Sunday series finale will take place at the earlier time of 11.00am and all will be seven inning games.

The Tuatara played games across four days when they were last in action, but chief executive Regan Wood said after consulting with fans, the local baseball community and the organisation’s partners, they thought a tweak to the playing schedule would work better this summer.

“It is really important we cater for the fans first,” Wood said. “Getting our games played at times that allow families to attend more easily is something we wanted to prioritise.

“We think the 11.00am start on Sunday gives people more flexibility – they can go out for brunch and then come to the baseball while still be home in time to do the lawns or the grocery shopping and get ready for the working week ahead.

“Double header Saturdays provide fans the opportunity to see more baseball in one go – seeing half a series in just one visit to the stadium is obviously something that will be appealing, and it also means we don’t have to fund having opposition teams staying an extra night in Auckland, which helps our bottom line.”

The one exception to the above schedule could be the New Year’s Eve series against the Adelaide Giants, with the Tuatara considering a slightly revised schedule that will be confirmed at a later date.
