In the 125th year anniversary of Aotearoa’s women’s suffrage, Auckland Live Women 20/18 programme celebrates the success and influence of women in the performing arts.
Be inspired and stimulated by panels made up of fearless, feisty and opinionated voices discussing diverse and sometimes difficult subjects with humour, humility and aroha for all.
All talks are sign language interpreted.
Panellists include:
Balancing Act – Modern parenting; unpacking the myths of women ‘having it all’ with Dolina Wehipeihana, Lisa Bates, Michelle Johansson, Alison Quigan, moderated by Miriama McDowell
Taking the Lead – A creative discussion around gender, sexuality, pleasure and consent with Karin McCraken, Moeawa Tamanui-Fransen, Emma Ellis, moderated by Julie Hill
Controlled Detonation – Gender equity in NZ’s creative industries, can we do better? with Nancy Brunning, Sophie Roberts, Angella Dravid, Nicola Blackman, moderated by Anne O’Brien
Future Tense – What suffrage means to the younger generation; now and in the future with Chloe Swarbrick, Rowan McCraken, Jahra Wasasala, Raukura Turei, moderated by Alice Canton
She Danced in the Fire – Live music and discussion with some of NZ’s leading female artists moderated by Karen Hay
MORNING SESSION:

The running time for each talk is approx. 1hr.
There is a break between talks.
The morning session will finish no later than 1pm.
Children welcome to attend, however please note the content of the talks is for a mature audience.
