About

A Strange Day's Night 2015 is a celebration of the great songs of The Rolling Stones.

That raucous, unruly five-piece band which was poised to carve out a historic career of recordings and live shows, first played Auckland Town Hall in 1965. Play It Strange is celebrating fifty years of their 'presence' on the world stage by having more than 150 NZers taking the Town Hall stage to perform a night of Stones' songs - from the upbeat to the ballads; the straight ahead rock 'n' roll to the pure pop. Between the ages of 11 through to 65, and from some of New Zealand music's biggest names to young performers on the verge of breaking through, this wealth of local talent will follow in the path of last year's hugely successful Beatles' concerts and create a very special array of arrangements and interpretations. The line up includes: Fiona McDonald, Peter Urlich, Peter Warren, Dictaphone Blues, Chunn Brothers, Jordan Luck, Jam Bus Stars, Auckland Youth Choir and more great and emerging talent. More than 150 will take to the stage!

This is a unique, one-off fundraising event for the Play It Strange Trust playitstrange.org.nz

The Play It Strange Trust was established in November 2003 for the purpose of encouraging young New Zealanders to develop interests and skills in songwriting and musical performance.
