On December 4, 1956, there was an unplanned get-together of the four most popular rock icons of the time - Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins - in Sun Studios, Memphis, Tennessee.

Once they assembled they figured they might as well have fun, and play some music. The outcome was one of the greatest jam sessions of all time. The character that the musical revolves around is Sam Phillips, the owner of Sun Studios, and pioneer of country-rock.

Currently playing the role of Sam in the UK, and playing the same role in Auckland is Jason Donovan who has been critically acclaimed for his performance. Jason himself is excited about playing in NZ for the first time, and says “Million Dollar Quartet is such a special show, that has wonderful heart and tells such a great story”.
