Melbourne Opera`s acclaimed production of Madame Butterfly, perhaps the most beloved of all operas, returns for a brief November season at the beautifully refurbished Athenaeum Theatre.
Melbourne Opera has once again assembled an outstanding cast led by international soprano Emily Wang as the doomed Cio-Cio San, the tragic heroine and joined by David Rogers-Smith as the ruthless Lieutenant Pinkerton and Roger Howell as the American consul Sharpless. Puccini`s moving melodies also feature the full Melbourne Opera Chorus and Orchestra, conducted by Greg Hocking.
