Sailing back across the Tasman hot off the back off their latest European tour - to which they played to over 100,000 fans in just three weeks, the Freddys are having what can only be described as a whirlwind year which has also included dates in the USA, at home New Zealand and their Queensland weekender in July.
As well as circumnavigating the globe the group have just released a brand new live album ‘Live At Roundhouse' recorded at their favourite UK venue, which documents an epic night of music at London's legendary Roundhouse in December 2008.
"As any long-term fan knows, ‘live and direct' is the very best way to feel the mercurial magic of Fat Freddy's Drop. Onstage performance is the life-blood of their music, which evolves in a spontaneous, eclectic and collective experience." Jon Lusk, Guardian, UK

In-depth Biography
They've dubbed themselves "hi-tek soul," but Fat Freddy's Drop -- featuring producer and leader Fitchie, vocalist Joe Dukie, saxophonist Warren Maxwell, trumpeter Toby Laing, trombonist Joe Lindsay, guitarist Tehimana Kerr, and keyboardist Iain Gordon -- could just as easily be considered a modern reggae band that incorporates soul and dub. Prior to releasing their first album, 2005's Based on a True Story, they were already well-known in their native New Zealand; the album shipped gold and became the first independent release to reach number one on the country's chart. By the end of the year, the band had left an impression in several other countries, including England, where listeners of Gilles Peterson's BBC Worldwide program voted it as the Album of the Year. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
